[RECIPES] Spinning Wheel

The Spinning Wheel is the first step of the cloth chain: fibre in, string out, one for one, a minute each. It belongs to the seamstress.

Wool comes off a sheep with shears and cotton off the fields — but linen string starts somewhere less obvious, at the Basketweaving Station, where flax is turned into flax fiber.

Everything spun here goes to the Loom, which wants ten strings and a pattern for a single bolt of cloth. That ratio is why a seamstress — who can spin several at a time from a remembered recipe — gets so much more out of this wheel than anyone else.
