Out with the old, in with the new
Our old website looked alright. It just did not encompass everything we do as a system, and it did not integrate with any of our products.
Players would go to the main website, then have to log in separately at https://meter.slcolonies.com with another username, another password and an email address to register.
People on Discord could not tell whether they were talking to someone from Second Life or a passing visitor. Chat coming from Discord into Second Life group chat could be anyone, with no identity matching them to the game.
That changes today.
The beta website I have been working on for the last couple of weeks is now live at https://slcolonies.com.
The front page goes through everything we offer, and the getting started pages walk a new player through it step by step.
Player profiles are hooked into the database, so your stats are on the site — and you can link Discord and the forums automatically, so your identity matches across every platform.
The realms page now has customisable pages for region server owners.
A web store, where you can buy anything of ours directly with L$ — or with gems earned as store credit.
Tutorials and Documentation exist with every product on our store and point to updated tutorial videos and recipe pages where needed on our forums here!
Memberships are moving from Patreon onto the website, using L$ only. No credit cards, no money leaving Second Life, and the economy keeps circulating.
If you already support us on Patreon, nothing changes and there is nothing to do. You stay a patron, you keep every benefit you have, and you are grandfathered in.
We just will not be taking new supporters there — new memberships happen on the website from now on. Behind-the-scenes posts move too: they will be here on the forum and in Discord for our Platinum members.
We are still porting pages over from the old meter site as we speak, and it keeps working in the meantime. In-world items will be updated to point you to the right place as we go.
