Why can’t we link the multi-vendors to a better-looking medieval market stall?
The problem is that Vendor Prime is NOT COPY. The scripts in Vendor Prime are copies, though. Where’s the logic in that? So if you put the scripts in a better-looking market stall, you get a message saying that an SLC Base Prime is missing.
I think that’s C.R.A.P. I don’t want to put an ugly cube on my marketplace; that’s stupid.
If you don’t want to sell the vendors as copies because you’re just greedy like all the other creators in Second Life, then at least have enough brains to create vendors with a decent design. And there are tons of full-featured medieval things in Second Life.
Your vendors just look like c.r.a.p. Make them linkable or give us some other way to connect them to a decent market stall.
Don’t make the same mistake as all other farm systems and go for money-grubbing concepts because that will quickly put you at a disadvantage.
I can understand your frustration about wanting a better-looking market stall. However, there’s a common misconception about linking vendors in Second Life. Even though the Vendor Prim is No Copy, it can still be linked to any object that doesn’t have conflicting permissions (like No Transfer and No Modify).
If you have an existing mesh that’s either No Transfer or No Modify and you’d still like to use it as the vendor, you can simply make the Vendor Prim itself invisible, resize it to fit around your mesh, and let users click on that invisible prim. This way, they’ll see and interact with your market stall, but the actual “vendor” is hidden.
We haven’t included a specialized mesh by default because the vendor system is meant to be flexible enough for multiple themes and purposes. A single mesh wouldn’t suit everyone’s needs. If you do need a certain style—like a medieval stall—it’s best to look for a full-perm mesh on the Marketplace. That way, you can link it or enclose the Vendor Prim to achieve the exact look you want.
I hope this clarifies how the permissions system works and why we chose our current setup. Let us know if you have any more questions!
