Hover Text on Bee Hives no longer working... post update v0.19.38

After I ran " [SLC] Updater v0.19.38 Rez and Click" the Hover Text on my Bee Hives is no longer working. I ran the update a second time, just to be sure-- since I left the region when it was happening the last time, and still not there, and wont let me turn it back on.

The hover text remain active on my bee hives after update, or at least be able to be turned back on.

There is no hover text on my bee hives, and it doesn’t seem to be allowing me to use the long-click-menu to turn them back on.

:repeat_button: Steps to reproduce

Please list clear, step-by-step instructions so others can reproduce the issue:

  1. To my knowing, I just rezzed and clicked “[SLC] Updater v0.19.38 Rez and Click” to choose to run the update and allow the spooling in local chat, rather than silent.

  2. I admittedly left the region for other things, didn’t watch the spool except for it to tell me it was finished.

  3. I forgot to collect or delete the updater box, and it remained rezzed on the land overnight.

  4. When I went to collect honey the next morning, the bee hives had all lost their hover text, and some had to be reset to work at all-- some rezzed dairy cows also had to be reset to work.

  5. I checked my viewer settings to be sure the change didn’t happen there, and it’s still active there.

  6. I tried several of the 13 hives I have, at random, and they all let me long-click-for-menu, and choose the “hover text” button, and choose the “On” option, and the nearby text tells me it’s on, but the hover text isn’t actually there.

  7. All the hives I tested also let me long-click-for-menu and choose the “reset” button, but that didn’t bring back the hover text or change the result of menu “On” either.

  8. I also attempted to “turn off” hover text, and turn it back on, this also didn’t change anything.

  9. I also attempted to change the “Lines” and nothing happens.

That’s all I can think of for now. Besides to mention that resetting the cows made them work properly, but I had also turned the hover text off of everything but the bee hives when I rezzed them out about a month ago. So, I wasn’t expecting hover text on the cows, just that they allowed me to milk them properly, and they do.

Thanks for that detailed report.

Is it only happening to your beehives or all your gatherables? It’s the same script, so I would be expecting it on all types of gatherables.

I have found the bug.

I fixed a different bug where when you would gather something like Reed or Ores that have hovertext turned on, they would vanish but the hovertext would remain on.

So I made it so that hover text vanishes as it should. But then I forgot we also have gatherables, such as the Beehive, that don’t vanish and instead report to the player that they are empty and to come back in x to gather.

Am working on a fix now.

Ok, I have fixed the bug.

The issue was exactly the above.

New updater is in store - let me know if it works for you.

Firstly, thanks for your reports and work figuring out the error and setting up the fix!

I am going to mark your post as the solution, though I need to mention that it worked for all the hives but the 3 that I think I reset and tested on the most, during the hovertext outtage.

Should I just collect those three and drop them at the store for replacements?

Or, wait for you to peep why those three didn’t fix, and still wont let me update them with the menu?

The updater is not reaching those three and replacing the scripts inside?

They may fix themselves on next round trip or may not. You could try the update platform. I’m not certain if those are in there though, if not, let me know and I will add the beehive to the update platform :slight_smile:

I reckon it was not reaching those and swapping the scripts the first time I did it.

I let them sit over night, and checked on them this morning.

The three in question still were having problems properly displaying their hovertext and letting me change it, so, as you suggested, I ran the updater box again this morning, and that fixed them! Yay!

No need to replace, so, we’ll have to check if the hives are in there another time. lol Thanks!
