The social stone pays you for spending time with other people. Sit in a tavern with company and you bank social points — a second pool of energy you can carry to somebody else’s land and spend on a day’s work.
Two new stats
Open HUD → Show stats and you will find two you may not have noticed: drunk, and social. Social runs to 100.
Earning
Click the stone and choose Stone. From then on:
- It ticks every five minutes.
- You must be within 32 metres of it.
- You earn one point per person gathered around it. Alone you earn nothing, and two people still only make one point each — it takes a crowd to make this worth doing.
So this is not a thing to farm quietly by yourself. It is a thing to run an event around: a tavern night, an archery contest, a sword tournament, a market day.
Trivia
A quiz question fires in the background between ticks. Answer correctly and you get five social points on the spot, which is worth far more than the tick itself. If nobody answers, it moves on to another question.
Drinking
Your drunk percentage adds a bonus to every tick. Drink through an evening and you bank points substantially faster than the sober colonist beside you.
There is a limit, and it bites. Hit your maximum drunk stat and you die of alcohol poisoning — and your social points reset to nothing. Sit just under it. As you go you will notice the screen darkening into a vignette, which is your warning.
This is deliberate. The brewery profession had nothing much pulling on it, and wine and spirits had no real demand. Now they do.
Spending
This is the part people miss, so read it twice.
Points earned on a stone cannot be spent on that same land. To turn them into energy you have to click a different stone — on somebody else’s region — and choose Points instead of Stone.
Once activated, everything you do draws from your social pool before it touches your energy, one for one. Chop, gather, mine, craft: the first hundred actions are free.
The shape of it is this. You go to somebody’s event, you drink and talk and answer trivia, you go home, and your fields cost you nothing that day. It is worth roughly a hundred extra energy on top of your normal pool.
Housekeeping
- AFK check — every so often it asks you to type a code shown on screen. Miss it and you are dropped from the stone.
- One at a time — clicking Stone on another social stone removes you from the one you were on. It tells you when it does.
Making it fit
Fully modifiable. There is an invisible main prim inside the stone: unlink it and attach it to any mesh you like. One of our regions turned theirs into a campfire and calls it the social fire, which works exactly the same.
Keep the scripts where they are. They are copy, but they only run inside a prim created by us — move them into your own object and they disable, and you will be relinking everything to get them back.
