Rent out houses, shops and market stalls for coin rather than Lindens — and, if you want it, collect tax from the landlords beneath you.
It does not take Lindens, on purpose
This is not a Second Life rental box. It charges SLC coin, or any currency you struck at a coin mint, and it will not charge Lindens at all.
That is the whole design. Rent is a roleplay transaction here: your tenants earn coin in the world and pay it back into the world.
Setting up
Rez the server on your land and say yes when it offers to register. That puts it on the database.
Then left-click and choose Rez rental boxes. Take them from the menu, not from the object’s Contents — a box dragged out of Contents by hand is not linked to the server and will not work.
Once a box has been rezzed you can pick it up and put it down again wherever you like; it keeps its identity.
Renting
Left-click a box to set its price per week. A tenant clicks Rent, chooses how many weeks, and pays.
After that:
- The tenant can Add time whenever they like.
- You can evict, and change the price for whoever comes next.
Choosing the coin
Left-click the server and set the coin type. It reads your own inventory and offers whatever currencies you are carrying — SLC coin, or anything you or a neighbour has minted.
Changing it affects boxes rezzed from then on. Boxes already out on your land keep the currency they were rezzed with.
Tax, and landlords under you
This is the part worth the money.
Set a tax percentage on the main server, then rez a sub server and hand it to somebody else. They rez it on their land, it registers against yours, and from then on they run their own rentals: their own boxes, their own prices.
When a tenant pays, the rent splits automatically by your tax rate. At 50%, a 10-coin rental sends 5 to the sub-server’s owner and 5 to you.
Picture a capital city with three villages around it. The king holds the main server. Each village has a land baron with a sub server, setting their own rents on their own houses. The tenants pay exactly what they were always going to pay — and the barons pay tax to the crown without anybody having to remember to.
