[ESSENTIALS] Region Server

The region server brings your land into SL Colonies. Rez one on your parcel and three things happen: players working on your land can draw tools from it, your realm is listed in the public directory, and you get a page of your own to describe it.

You need one per parcel. Rezzing a second on the same parcel registers the new one and replaces the first, so nothing is gained by it — but a sim split into several parcels can have one on each.

Tools

Every craftable tool in the game sits inside the server. When a player on your land presses Get Tool on their HUD, the server transfers one across into their HUD, and from there they can attach it. That is what lets anybody gather, mine, chop or forge on your parcel at all.

The experience — do this or tools will not attach

Add the SL Colonies experience to your land. In Firestorm:

  • For a whole region: World → Region/Estate → Experiences
  • For a single parcel: World → Parcel Details → Experiences

Search for SL Colonies (with the space), select it and allow it.

If a tool appears above somebody’s head and then vanishes instead of attaching, the experience is missing. That is the only symptom, and it is always the cause.

You do not need to allow rezzing on your land. With the experience enabled the server rezzes the tool on the visitor’s behalf and it attaches to them; a completely no-rez sim works fine.

Your listing

Your realm appears in the directory at Realms | SL Colonies, where players browse for somewhere to visit. The listing shows your banner, your description and a teleport straight to your landing point.

Listing is yours to switch on and off whenever you like. If your land is under construction or you would rather keep it private, switch it off and it disappears from the directory — the server keeps working either way.

Your page

Every listed realm gets its own page on the website, with:

  • a banner image you upload
  • a description
  • house rules
  • a gallery of screenshots
  • who to ask when a visitor needs help

You write all of it yourself from Profile → My Land on the website, and you can change it whenever you want.

The coin

Pick any currency in the game and every player standing on your land sees it on their HUD instead of the default. Mint your own with a coin mint and use that, or choose one that already exists.

This one changes the game in-world, not just the website.

Settings

Name, landing point, description, category, banner, rules and coin are all edited from Profile → My Land on the website. Nothing needs a restart and nothing needs us.
