[ESSENTIALS] Marketplace HUB

The market buys and sells every system item in the game, seeds itself so it never runs dry, and carries a merchant mini-game that pays colonists for visiting each other’s regions.

Two ways in

Left-click and choose:

  • Web based — the meter website. Bookmark it and you can trade from the middle of a field; you never have to walk back to the market, and nothing is held in escrow waiting to be claimed. Purchases land in your inventory as you make them.
  • HUD based — the same market drawn in front of you, tied to the character you are logged in as.

Web based is more convenient. HUD based exists because people with several alts kept having to log the website out and back in to trade as the right character. If you play one character, use the website.

Whichever you pick: click once and wait. A second click pauses the display.

Buying

The market seeds every system item and keeps ten thousand of each. Buy heavily and the stock falls and the price rises, so a run on one commodity is visible to everyone.

Your discount comes from two places: your profession, and your Charisma. A merchant with high Charisma buys meaningfully cheaper than a herbalist with low Charisma, and sells for more. If you intend to trade seriously, that is where your points go.

Selling

Anything in your inventory can go to the market, including things you crafted that it has never seen. It works out what to offer by pricing every raw ingredient that went into the item and building up from there — so a thing you made is worth what it took to make it.

Once sold, it is listed for other players to buy.

The spread is the thing to understand. It offers you around 0.75× an item’s value and sells it on at around . That gap is not a bug and it is not going anywhere — it is the space vendors exist to trade in, and the reason a shopkeeper on your own land can beat the market on both sides.

It also means selling raw materials is the worst thing you can do with them. Take the same wood down through planks and into tools before you sell, and the profit multiplier compounds at every stage.

The other shops

The CXP store now lives in the market — seeds, cooking catalysts and reservable animals — so you no longer travel to the main store for it. The platinum store is here too, without logging into your account.

Every item carries an information button. Whatever a player wrote as a description appears there, which is the only way a buyer knows what an unfamiliar weapon or drink actually does. Describe what you sell.

The merchant mini-game

If your profession is merchant, there is a fourth option on the menu, and it is worth real money.

At your own market it says Resupply. Solve a warehouse puzzle and you gain trade supplies and CXP. Warehouse level 1 comes up once a day and gives 100; the other three are random and give 200, 300 or 400. You can draw up to 1,000 supplies a day from your own market.

At somebody else’s it says Barter. Solve their puzzle and you spend supplies to earn coin. This is why you leave home.

How it plays:

  • Arrow keys to push crates onto the money pouches. Z takes one move back, once — not twice.
  • You always start at level 1, then get a random level between 2 and 160. Draw a hard one and you can restart it free as often as you like, or walk away and try another region.
  • Your merchant level raises both what you give and what you get.

The daily bonus is the part to plan around. Your first market of the day pays a 40% bonus. Every play drops that market’s bonus by 10% for whoever comes next. So check the market list on the meter website, see which regions are still sitting at 40% or 30%, and go there — rather than to the neighbour whose market three of your colonists have already worked through this morning.

Fail a level and that is your bonus gone for the day. You can still play other markets at base rate.

Making it fit

Fully modifiable. The main prim is invisible: resize it, wrap it around your own mesh, unlink the NPC, build whatever suits your region.

Keep the scripts inside that main prim. Take them out and you have a market that no longer works.
