The Loom turns coloured string into bolts of patterned cloth. It is the seamstress’s tool, and it is the one station in the game where the craft itself is a game.
The five cloths
All level 1, and all of them ten string and a pattern:

Satin is the odd one out — the only blend on the table.
A pattern is not something you gather
This is the part that stops people, and it takes three professions to solve.
Research Table → research the pattern
Engineering Bench → copy it, using parchment
leather rack → where a ranger makes the parchment
So a bolt of patterned cloth has a researcher, an engineer and a ranger standing behind it before a seamstress touches the loom.
The mini-game
Crafting opens a sliding-tile puzzle: the texture is cut into numbered tiles and you put it back in order. When it is solved, the texture fills in and the craft button appears.
Two things worth knowing:
- Anyone can use the loom — there is no profession lock. But a non-seamstress gets a harder grid. The seamstress puzzle is small; everyone else gets more tiles to shuffle.
- You play it once, however many bolts you asked for. Making twenty is one puzzle, not twenty.
You do have to stay at the station until the craft finishes.
If you ask for more than your ingredients allow, it tells you exactly what you are short of and takes nothing — so there is no risk in trying a bigger number to see what it costs.
The rebuilt app
The loom app was rebuilt recently — no new station required, the change is in the app itself. The layout is much simpler, and the tiles now carry both numbers and colours to work from, which makes the puzzle far more readable than it was.
Where the cloth goes
On to the sewing line, and into furniture as covers, sheets and blankets — the parts that decide what a bed actually does for you.
And the strings themselves can be dyed at the Dye Tank before they ever reach the loom. That is how a colony ends up with patterns nobody else has.
