Player Created Achievements & Player Titles

We’ve discussed a few times about us adding player earned achievements and more player titles that we hand out. And I still wish to do this in an official capacity, but to give to the community first, I wanted to make it possible for our world builders and players alike to create their own achievements and player titles that can be given out somehow.

There will be an new building that would not be on sale and would only be available within our HUB and Store, known as The Registry of Deeds. It will eventually sit inside our Roleplay HUB’s town square, but it will look something like this:

Concept only created by AI.

Creators will be able to visit this registry and do the following:

  • Create an Achievement
  • Create a Title

Achievement Registry

Inside the Registry of Deeds, players will find numerous new stations that are only available within our HUB and not for sale.

You will be able to visit the Achievement Registry, which allows you to create an achievement which you can give out to players through the use of the Questing System as a reward.

Concept only, generated by AI.

You will be able to create an achievement using Platinum Coin.
You will come up with a name for your achievement, and load a texture/badge of your achievement.

Once you register the achievement, it is soulbound to your UUID and cannot be used by other players. It will be selectable in the Quest System as a reward that you can hand out for completing certain tasks.

When a player earns your achievement, they will be able to display it in-world proudly. Through the purchasing of crafted Achievement Frames. They will come with various slots.

Single Slot, 6 Slots, 9 Slots, 12 slots as example.

These will be crafted by the carpenter using wood, as well as glass sheets made by the smelter.

A player that rezzes out the frame, can put them up on a wall or on a desk and click the empty slot, to load their achievement plaque into the frame.

Here is an example:

Title Registry

The title registry works in much the same way, however these are not displayed in a frame. They are worn by the player and show as floating text above the players avatars. The player has to decide which title they would like to display and can only show one at a time.

These will also cost Platinum XP to register a title into, and the titles can only be given out by the creator of the title, through the quest system as a reward option.

SLColonies as a system will also work on automatically earned titles and achievements and load them into the system so that players can achieve things by playing the game and reaching certain milestones. We will also have our own official Quest Givers and Profession NPCs that will have quests available for you to complete and earn achievements and special titles from.

The Registry of Deeds building will also feature other cool things, like an Identity Records that will list a players record, including Race changes, earned achievements and titles, and when they earned these rewards, or when they changed their race. What dates they levelled or changed professions.

A Chronicler NPC will be in there that acts as the keeper of records, and will eventually even replace the racial change feature in the leveling station to within this NPC that you can go visit and spend CXP or other Vanity Tokens to change your race.

I will be discussing these concepts (Chronicler NPC) in more detail in a later post!

With the Questing System well under way, we are looking into also building in an Achievement system into the game.

We need to come up with a list of at least 20 achievements that would be cool to add in. More is always better.

These need to be achievements that the system can track and apply automatically to the players.

EG:

  • Gathering X amount = Achievement
  • Harvesting X amount = Achievement
  • Crafting
  • Quest Completions
  • Trades
  • Selling/Buying on Market
  • Selling/Buying in Vendors

Any ideas from you all?

Visit a certain number of colonies/region servers, stay for a certain amount of time, forcing players to leave their comfort zone. Colonies/places that wish to participate automatically pay some coins.
I arrived late and the system is great, thanks to the genius @drakkhis , but I’ll leave my opinion here.

@Kundhera - that would be great … something like a Social Stone / Colony Sign that can be clicked when visiting and if you stayed in range for say 10min  before it will count as a visit.

Fishing could be upgraded so we can have a fishing tournament where you can get special and rare items .. the you can also add it then to the achievements : x amount of tournaments … or you collected x special or rare items ..

Maybe also add to the achievements:

  • Using x different Social Stones
  • Researching X number of Blueprints
  • Using colony Tip jars x times

Hello @Enzo_Minne , here in my quote above, it is not about sociability (Social Stone already has its function), which is optional, but mandatory to visit, in the case of the mission system… But any suggestion made by you would also be valid… as the mission system is ready, the suggestions would be for a future review, after another vacation for @drakkhis lol we have to respect the work he did… incredible…

I’ve been thinking on achievements and how we can move this feature to user controlled versus relying on the devs to create all the achievements. Like we’ve done with cooking, where recipes are created by YOU and not US.

I want to update the Colony System to allow more control for a colony leader, with a built in achievement system that links in with the quest system.

Add a “Reputation” system within the colony management windows (as well as update colonies to be able to track all their items), but basically, reputation allows you to setup quests on your land and players “earn” a reputation with your colony. And they can unlock achievements the colony has setup with special titles, and even rewards they have loaded into the system.

But that brings us to colony management as well. Where colony manager can track tasks, all their items like fields, and assign tasks to colony members so when a member logs in, they can go to the colony screen and know what tasks have been assigned to them to get done etc to work together more… like… colony orders and such… craft x of this, gather x of that. Looks like fields are ready to harvest, harvest these etc.

Non colony members could still earn reputation through that colonies quests and use reputation to earn prizes/titles setup by the colony manager.
