Two jobs: turn weapon blueprints into casts, and pull apart any item in the game to see what went into it.
Reverse engineering
This half has nothing to do with weapons. Any item you own can be broken down to reveal what it is made of.
Left-click → Reverse engineer, and pick the item from your inventory.
- 60% chance of success, improving with your level.
- Costs one of the item, 50 energy and 100 CXP.
- All three are consumed even when it fails.
Succeed and you are told which ingredients the recipe uses. You are not told how much of each. A pot that takes clay and water will tell you clay and water, and the quantities are still yours to work out.
That is deliberate. It puts you close enough to guess without handing the recipe over.
Making weapon casts
Left-click → Use a blueprint, and choose one you have learned at the Research Table.
The table lists what it needs and tells you what you are short of — but only the first thing it notices. Bring the clay it asked for and it may then ask for something else. Turn up with a full inventory rather than a single missing item.
The result is a cast for one weapon part.
What a cast is, and is not
A cast is not the part. It is the mould for it.
- Single use. Making the part consumes it.
- Tradeable. You can sell casts on the market or hand them to another player.
- It still needs a smith or a carpenter. Take a metal cast to the Forge & Anvil, a wooden one to the Carpentry Bench, add the extra ingredients there, and you get the actual part.
The chain
Research Table → Engineering Table → Forge or Carpentry → Weapon Crafting Table.
You need every part of a weapon — a head, a handle, an adornment and so on, depending on the design — before the last table will assemble anything.
